Freakier Sight of the Night?

Christian Bale bone thin in The Machinist or Wang Chung belting out Nelly's Hot In Herre on Hit Me Baby One More Time?

The Machinist is classic De Palma with it's slow unraveling and twists and turns. I was enthralled by Bale's performance and not merely because he looked like the "new" Lindsey Lohan throughout. Remember Guy Pearce in Memento? On par with that. Eerie as fuck with one hell of a pay off at the end. Decent ride.

How I managed to watch Hit Me Baby is beyond me. Let's call it a need for me to be in the know on all things kitsch. Tender moment for me was seeing Howard Jones, a guy I loved when I was in 9th grade, belt out his classic No One Is To Blame. I even thought his version of Dido's White Flag was pretty solid too. Fucking Cameo is a mess. Odd moment of the night was remembering a Sony industry "party" I attended back when I was a pseudo rock star for the release of Sophie B. Hawkins album. I was sitting poolside and she was playing acoustically for industry folks barefoot and stoned out of her head. From the looks of it tonight, she's still a fan of the pipe.

I watched the original Wang Chung song before moving on to other things, but caught clips of the other songs from the idiots on morning radio today. I normally hate when they talk about the TV they watched last night, but it was nice to hear some of what I missed. HJ should have won with his Dido cover, in my opinion. I'm guessing he was the only one who actually played an instrument. Am I right?

Howard did actualy play an instrutment, but considering who won each of the last 3 weeks, I'm not sure playing anything is important. (Arrested Development, Vanilla Ice and now Irene Cara)

It's kind of pathetic watching these "stars" butcher their own songs on TV, but then again it is SUMMER TV.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that means they should win or anything, but I certainly have more respect for musicians that can, well, play music.

For some of the clips, the dumbasses on morning radio were saying "wow, that's impressive, they sound just like they did twenty years ago!" Of course they do; their music track was all sequenced back then, why would it be any different now?

Hey Baron, isn't Arrested Development from WI? I thought I remembered hearing that one of them went to our HS or something.
