Ok, so my alma mater made the NIT this year instead of the tourney. What can you do? At least Crazy John Chaney hasn't been fired yet. But Villanova did make the big dance and has a decent shot at getting to the Sweet Sixteen or the Elite Eight if they play good ball. Which is more than I can say for my tourney brackets. I am a ball hair from last place in the little "for fun" league that I am in. I think I messed up again by picking Gonzaga to do better than they are clearly capable of. It's always kind of disheartening when one of your final four teams goes out relatively early, and you immediately change your way of thinking to hoping that everyone else's picks collapse instead of maintiaining some belief that the rest of your top 4 will make it there. That's the tourney for you...
In other March Madness news, how about today's weather? Yesterday was a joyful looking day, sunny and over 50 degrees. Today it has looked like dusk since I woke up and I can't imagine the sun is going to find it's way out at all. Rainy and gloomy is usually my preference, but for some reason today I'm thinking it kind of sucks. Must be a mood I'm in or something.
I'm over the hump at work with getting all my performance reviews doled out, anemic raise in tow. Most of the folks were borderline disappointed and I'm not sure that they will stick around considering the way the powers that be control the pocketbook. Only time will tell. Myself, I'm resigned to the fact that I'm burned out and tired of job jumping...so even though I get paid peanuts, I'm gonna stick it out some more just to keep things light. I don't like being unemployed, nor do I like clawing my way back up some bullshit ladder that exists in the workplace. I'm comfortable with my station in life. I do what I have to survive. You dig?
I'm in the that movie lull again that I sometimes get myself into with Netflix. I currently have 2 films out with subtitles and I'm not really in the mood for reading a movie. Motorcycle Diaries has been on the shelf for like 10 days and now I have the Blind Swordsman out to go along with it. Where's Raise Your Voice when you need it?
I have 2 days off this week consecutively which normally would be awesome, but this week they both are already earmarked for events that will be less than fun. On Tuesday (day off #1) I have to attend the funeral of my great grandmother who died this past week in Florida where she retired years and years ago. And on Wednesday (day off #2) I have to attend court for that parking ticket I got back in November for parking in a handicap meter spot outside of jury duty for all of 1 minute to fetch my cell phone which I was forced to "check" upon enter the municipal building. Oy vey. I am hoping that my Stepfather can wiggle me out of the ticket mainly because I don't feel like dropping $300 on a fucking ticket. Wish me luck. In any case, I guess I'll have to postpone my plans for world domination this week.
